Introduction: Health care is a very vital field which the slightest error, such as medical errors may due to irreparable damage to the patient’s life. Therefore, information technology is useful for improving hospital performance and providing qualified services for patients.

Method: This analytical- descriptive and cross sectional study was conducted in 2015. The study population were all employees and specialists in pathology laboratories in Zahedan and Iranshahr city which 77 of them were selected randomly as a sample size. Data were collected using researcher-made questionnaire which its reliability and validity were confirmed. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21.

Results: The findings indicated that the mean score of laboratory workers' skills was 2/13 of 5 and the mean score of awareness to RFID technology was 2/70. In addition, the mean score of participants' attitude towards the technology was 3/50 which represent a positive attitude.

Conclusion: Because the use of this technology is new in the field of health care, it can be concluded personnel are not familiar with this technology and its benefits, and they are hesitant to use it. Also, due to the lack of familiarity and support of senior management, employees are reluctant to use information technology.
