Five types of articles will be accepted for publication in this journal:

Original Article

Case(s) Report

Review Article

Short Communication

Letter to Editor

Covering letter:By submitting a manuscript, authors certify that they are reporting original work not previously published, in review, or in press. In addition, authors must declare any financial support or relationships that may pose conflict of interest in covering letter.

Original Article:

Original articles are limited to 5000 words including references. Body of Manuscript should include Title Page, Structured Abstract, Introduction, Results, Discussion & Conclusion, Acknowledgments, References and Appendices (if applicable).

Case Reports:

Case Reports are limited to 3000 words including references. Body of Case Report Manuscript should include: Title Page, Structured Abstract, Introduction, Case presentation, Discussion & Conclusion, Acknowledgments, References and Appendices (if applicable). structured abstract contain a maximum of 150 words.

Letter to Editor: Letter to Editor are timely and succinct expressions of responsible criticism or reaction to material published in recent issues. Letters to the editor may also call attention to topics of general interest to readers. Authors of letters to the editor must acknowledge financial and other conflicts of interest within the letter. Letters are limited to 1000 words including references.

Review Article:Review Article on selected topics should provided an up-to-date and authoritive review of a topic in any area of Clinical Pediatrics. These are generally invited by the editor, but authors may otherwise suggest writing a Review Article on an issue of interest. At least 3 references must belong to authors. These articles are limited to 4500 words including references.

Short Communication: Short Communication are articles that satisfy all criteria for a Research Article including:

1) report new, pilot tested research methods,

2) report on secondary or ancillary results from a larger study,

3) report results from a small or non-representative sample,

4) report on a topic that is considered low priority but would be of interest to some readers of jhbmi.

Short Communication is limited to 2500 words including references , and structured abstract in a maximum of 150 words.

Preparation of Manuscript

The manuscript should be typed in Microsoft Word, single-spaced on A4 size paper with 2 cm margins on both sides in Times New Roman, font size 12. The manuscript should include: Title page; Abstract; Introduction; Method; Results; Discussion & conclusion; Acknowledge‌ment; conflict of interest; References and Appendices (if applicable).

Full title page should include the complete title of the manuscript, the name of all authors with their department or institution, the school, university or research center to which they are affiliated, city and country, address for correspondence with telephone numbers, e-mail, and fax number, all in Persian. The same precise information should be also brought in the English abstract. If the article is the result of a research proposal or a thesis/dissertation, the name of the funding organization/ institution, as well as the project code should be mentioned.

The Abstract: All original articles must be accompanied by a structured abstract of 350 words containing Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion followed by 3 to 5 Keywords. To write key words use terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list of index medicus(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/).

Introduction: State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background and logical reason to conduct and write the article.

Methods: This should include:

• Exact method or observation or experiment (study design, system characteristic, statistical population, sample size, study context, sampling method, and materials)

• Exact method and tools for data collection (Data collection tools, tools design & Implementation, reliability & validity of tools)

• Analysis methods & ethical considerations (Statistical methods & software, statistical tests, Units of Measurement) 

Results:

• Findings that include multiple informational points should be presented by tables and graphs and a brief explanation in the text.

• The contents of the tables and graphs should not be all repeated in the text.

• Results should be clear and concise.

• Both tables and figures should be clear and a reference to their number may be given. In figures, the caption should be placed below and in tables should be placed above.

• Place explanatory matters in footnote.

Discussion & conclusion: This should include;

• Main findings

• This should emphasize the present findings and the variations or similarities with other work done in the field by other works.

• Data or other instances presented at the introduction or results, should not be repeated in detail in this section.

• The reasons for approval or rejection of other findings.

• Strengths and limitation of study

• Describes the unexpected findings

• Final Conclusion 

Acknowledgement: All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship, financial and material support should be covered in the acknowledgement section. This section is optional.

References:

• References should be in English

• References should be numbered in the order mentioned in the text in [ ]

• The name of journals must be abbreviated ( according to PubMed), for example International Journal of Medical Informatics: Int J Med Inform.

Abbreviations and symbols:

• Use only standard abbreviations.

• Avoid using them in the title and abstract.

• The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.

• The name of non-persian individuals in the text should be written in English.

Legal Considerations:

• All authors are responsible for the accuracy of the content, and for responding to any claim related to authors’ intellectual property rights or contents.

• The submitted manuscript should not already be published or under-publication in any other journal. If the article is presented in English journals, this must be announced with complete information.

• The journal has no responsibility for any claims raised among the authors or between the authors and other authorities.

• The journal is free to accept or reject the manuscripts. It also has the right to summarize the papers and edit the references as well as the content of the papers scientifically and literally.

• The authors are responsible to individuals or organizations mentioned in the acknowledgment.

• Upon the acceptance of the paper, the publishing right belongs only to the journal of health and biomedical informatics. 

Judgment Policies:

• The papers will be reviewed, criticized and evaluated by Scientific Committee and Peer-Reviewers. The editorial board is free to edit and modify the papers.

• Received papers are appraised by at least two anonymous referees, based on the evaluation checklist.

• The journal strives to return the reviewers' comments to authors as soon as possible.

• After applying the revisions, the paper will be appraised again.

• Upon the final confirmation of the paper, the acceptance letter for publishing it would be submitted to the authors.

• Ethical issues and participants’ rights must be mentioned and observed in the research; otherwise, the paper will be rejected. 

Conflicts of interest:

Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest. Declaring a competing interest will not lead to automatic rejection of the paper, but its reporting is essential.

APPEALS AND COMPLAINTS
Appeal and complaint cases are handled within the scope of COPE guidelines by the Editorial Board of the journal. Appeals should be based on the scientific content of the manuscript. The final decision on the appeal and complaint is made by Editor in Chief. An Ombudsperson or the Ethical Editor is assigned to resolve cases that cannot be resolved internally. Authors should get in contact with the Editor in Chief regarding their appeals and complaints via e-mail at info@jhbmi.ir. 

Page charges: There is no charges for publication in this journal.

If the authors do not follow the policy of the journal, it may result in rejection or delay in appraisal procedure and  publishing.
