Introduction: Chronic kidney failure is a common disease in the world and kidney transplantation is the most effective treatment in patients with chronic kidney failure. The aim of this study was to predict the survival of transplanted kidney and identify its effective factors, and also to provide a model for higher prediction accuracy.

Method: In this retrospective study, data from 423 cases of kidney transplant patients during 2006-2011 in Afzalipour Teaching Hospital in Kerman were obtained. The neural networks, decision tree and support vector machine were used to predict kidney transplantation survival and information fusion was used to combine the results of these classifiers and design a model with higher prediction accuracy. In addition, for identifying factors affecting the survival of transplanted kidney, genetic algorithm was used and for data analysis and implementation of algorithms, Clementine 12 and Weka 2.3 were used.

Results: The accuracy of neural networks, decision tree, and support vector machine were 94%, 92%, and 92%, respectively, and the accuracy of information fusion was 95.74%. Also, recipient BMI and gender, donor age, compatibility of donor and recipient blood group, and history of kidney transplantation as the effective factors on renal transplantation survival were identified by genetic algorithm. The prediction accuracy of this model was 91.67%.

Conclusion: The results show that information fusion can increase the prediction accuracy. Also, the genetic algorithm as an effective method can be used for identifying the optimal features.

Introduction: Prediction of MicroRNAs (miRNAs) targets has a major importance. Development of calculating methods and also cost-effective and time-saving laboratory researches, has great effect on the production of therapeutic medicines like anti cancerous drugs. Since miRNAs have been recently identified, the researches trend was slow at first but by development of biologic databases and understanding its importance, scientists enhanced the speed of studies and paid more attention to this field. Until now, several computerized methods have been developed for prediction of microRNAs (miRNAs) targets but most of these methods have high false positive and further studies are required to improve these methods. Since, recent studies show that miRNAs have different targets in several tissues, this study aimed to provide a computerized method for prediction of miRNAs target in breast cancer.

Method: In this study, at first, all types of features were extracted, then, dominant features were selected via CFS and Relief methods. Smart models such as nervous network, Support Vector Machine with three different cores, Naïve Bayes algorithm and Random Forest decision tree using ten cross accreditation method were tested and its results compared and analyzed. In order to validate the results, gene expression profiling was used.

Results: Analyzing miRNA and gene expression profiles, the classifier predicted 124 functional interactions involving 21 miRNAs and 38 mRNAs in breast cancer.

Conclusion: In terms of bioinformatics, this approach was validated for breast cancer but for further validation, experimental methods also should be used.

Introduction: In fact, management of information technology in the health system, designing the hospital information systems and electronic medical records in the health care centers, need to train some specialists familiar with computer science and Information Technology as well clinical knowledge and health systems. This study aimed to compare training programs and professional needs from the viewpoint of health information technology graduates.

Method: This is a descriptive-analytic and cross-sectional survey on the 120 Bachelor graduated in Health Information Technology of Zahedan School of Allied Medical Sciences in 2016. Data were collected by using a standard questionnaire with confirmed validity and reliability and analyzed using SPSS 16.

Results: The results show that most of first-year students (% 75) had good ability in using Information Technology in their job. More first-year students believed that training courses (% 48/9) compared to the theoretical (% 41/6) and practical (% 35/5) courses were more effective and applicable in professional performance. On the other hand, most graduates declared that lack of technical skills (% 38/7) is the main factor causing psychological pressure in the first-year students although the level of this pressure in the second- year students and in third-year students were medium and low, respectively.

Conclusion: Considering the results, relationship between the goals of training programs and professional needs in the field of health information technology was declining. Therefore, there are urgent need to change training courses in order to improve the professional skills of graduates and meet their professional needs.

Introduction: Health clients when seeking health information are faced with challenges such as complexity of the health system, increase in prevalence of chronic diseases, need to participate in the health care, and increase in the available information from different and various sources. Disregarding the importance of health information-seeking behavior and the effectiveness of library services in this field, a few studies have been performed on health information-seeking behavior in developing countries like Iran.

Method: The present survey was performed on 373 members of the public libraries in Kerman. The sample size were determined based on the Morgan table. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, mean, and standard deviation), chi-square test, and SPSS 19.

Results: The results show that among 373 participants, 1.33% believed that library has no significant role in access to health information, and 8.9% believed that the library plays a key role in this area. In this study, a significant relationship between the age, sex, marital status, educational level and occupation of individuals, and the diagnosis of disease was reported. In addition, a significant relationship between the role of library in access to health information and age was also reported.

Conclusion: Investigation of individuals’ health information-seeking behavior can be used as an effective tools to help planners and administrators. Although Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been remarkably grown and internet plays significant role compared to the other channels that help people to access to health information but the book is still regarded as an important and common resource to access the information.
